This Bulimia Test can help determine whether you might have bulimia nervosa. The online test is based on the diagnostic criteria of bulimia, but it is not intended to make a diagnosis.

BULIMIA TEST (Bulimia nervosa test)

Instructions: Please, read the statements listed below and answer each item that you believe accurately describe your condition for the last 3 months, or indicate the extend your agree or disagree with the statement 

1. I have irresistible impulses to eat large amount of food, which I consume within minutes

2. When I cannot stop eating, I eat so much that I feel uncomfortably full afterwards

3. I eat a lot when I’m not hungry

4. Because I’m ashamed of the way I eat or I fear that I will lose control over my eating, I try to eat when I’m alone

5. I lose control over my eating when I’m irritated, angry or nervous

6. Initially I feel mentally relieved after eating so much, but then I despise myself for losing control

7. I make myself vomit, when I feel that I’ve eaten too much

8. I purge (by using laxatives, diuretics or other means) after eating too much

9. I exercise to almost exhaustion to burn excessive calories I’ve consumed

10. I try to put myself on a strict diet after eating too much

11. My life is a vicious circle between the moments I lose control over my eating and the time I diet to lose my weight

12. Body shape is the most essential part of one’s image

13. I’m concerned about gaining weight

14. I think about losing weight

15. I feel dissatisfied with my body shape

16. I feel depressed because I fail to establish self-control over my eating
